Apollo Cancer Center
MELBOURNE (April 21, 2025) — Apollo CancerCenter, a state–of–the–art facility providing a diverse cancer program that addresses prevention, detection, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation, has announced several free prostate cancer screenings across Brevard County.
These screenings aim to raise awareness and promote early detection of prostate cancer, a disease that affects 1–in–8 men in their lifetime. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in men in the United States, with about 1 in 8 men being diagnosed during their lifetime. It often grows slowly, with the risk increasing exponentially with age, making early detection crucial for successful treatment. All it takes to screen for Prostate Cancer is a simple blood test.
The free screening will include a Prostate SpecificAntigen (PSA) test, a simple and effective blood test that can detect early signs of prostate cancer. PSA is a protein produced only by the prostate gland.
Elevated or rising PSA levels can be an early warning sign of prostate cancer, making this test a powerful tool for proactive health management. The recommended age to begin yearly screening is age 50 for most men, 45 for higher risk men, and 40 for men who are at very high risk of developing prostate cancer.
The screenings are open to the public and no appointment is required. Screening Details:
