OMNI Healthcare’s Center
for Diabetes Care

OMNI Healthcare’s Center for Diabetes Care offers patients a comprehensive approach to the management of diabetes. Our providers and staff work closely with each patient to address their healthcare needs and craft a plan that is right for them.

The American Diabetes Association Recognizes OMNI Healthcare’s Centers for Diabetes Education

In November 2000, the American Diabetes Association (ADA) awarded OMNI Healthcare with the prestigious ADA Recognition Certificate for creating a quality diabetes self-management education program. Operating six centers throughout the county, OMNI Healthcare is the exclusive physician-sponsored ADA-recognized provider of outpatient diabetes education programs in Brevard.

This program allows OMNI Healthcare to empower patients by educating diabetics about their disease, providing practice skills necessary to control their blood glucose levels, and providing regular check-ups from their healthcare team. In the end, patients can successfully manage their diabetes and reduce their risk for complications.

*The American Diabetes Association recognizes this education service as meeting the National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education.

During after-hours the patient should dial the regular office number and our after-hours service will contact the on-call physician who will then reach out to the patient.

Katja Felsinger, MD Endocrinology

Endocrinologist Katja Felsinger, MD is board-certified in endocrinology and internal medicine. Dr. Felsinger’s goal is to improve patients’ quality of life by helping them achieve better control of their medical problems. Her focus is on preventive medicine, decreasing symptoms and complications from patients’ chronic medical problems.

“I am able to download most glucometers, continuous glucometers (CGMS) and insulin pumps which help me work toward improving patients’ control of their diabetes,” she said. Her office can also arrange for patients to undergo a bone density test known as a DEXA scan, or thyroid ultrasound at her location, if needed.

She enjoys taking care of her patients and says the best part of being a doctor is getting to know her patients and developing long-lasting relationships with them.

Dr. Felsinger is also specially trained in the field of osteoporosis/osteopenia and is a Certified Clinical Densitometrist (CCD). She is a member of the International Society of Clinical Densitometry.

Dr. Felsinger comes to OMNI after managing her own practice and has 20 years of experience in endocrinology. Her clinical and academic interests include diabetes management, insulin pumps, thyroid problems, osteoporosis, treatment of elevated cholesterol, and general endocrinology. Dr. Felsinger received her medical degree from Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany, followed by a residency in internal medicine at Beth Israel Hospital in Newark, NJ. She completed a fellowship in endocrinology at the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL.

Dr. Felsinger is currently accepting new patients. She is fluent in English and German. To make an appointment, call (321) 722-9731.

All members of the team work closely to optimize a healthy lifestyle, and help patients avoid the potential complications of diabetes.
