November 22, 2021 – MELBOURNE, FL – In light of recent news that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have expanded eligibility for Covid-19 booster shots, OMNI Healthcare announces that its offices and walk-in vaccination clinic have sufficient supply to meet the expected demand. The new recommendations now allow boosters of the Pfizer and Moderna Covid-19 vaccines for anyone 18 or older, and who initially received their second Pfizer or Moderna shot at least six months ago. Boosters are also recommended for people who received the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine at least two months ago.
OMNI Healthcare is now administering the vaccine at all of its offices throughout Brevard by appointment and at its Melbourne vaccination clinic on a walk-in basis. The physicians group is offering all three Covid-19 vaccines including Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson vaccines. Children as young as five years old are eligible and are receiving a smaller, pediatric dose of the Pfizer vaccine.
The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is the first and only Covid-19 vaccine to receive full approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The Pfizer vaccine is now marketed as Cominarty, for the prevention of Covid-19 disease in individuals 16 years of age and older. The vaccine also continues to be available under emergency use authorization (EUA), including for children 5 through 15 years of age.
In recent weeks, the FDA approved anyone eligible for their Covid-19 booster to mix and match their Covid-19 vaccine, meaning that anyone eligible for an extra dose can get a brand different from the one they received initially.
